Fix DM Automation Issues Caused by Meta Permissions

Troubleshoot and fix Meta Business permission errors preventing DM automations from sending in FEA Create.

If your DM automations aren’t sending, it can feel really frustrating. Especially when everything looks set up correctly inside FEA Create.

The good news is this is usually down to permissions inside Meta. Not anything you’ve done wrong ✨

Meta requires full permissions to allow automations to send messages. If anything is missing or only partially connected, your automations won’t run.

You might notice

  • Your DM automations are not sending

  • You see a “permissions missing” error in FEA Create

  • Your Facebook or Instagram connection looks active but nothing is triggering

If that sounds familiar, follow the steps below to get everything working again.

You may need to complete Option 1, Option 2 or both.

Option 1: Check permissions in Meta Business Suite

Step 1: Open your Meta Business settings

Go to business.facebook.com and select your business account. Make sure this is your business, not your personal profile.

If you don't have this option available, please go straight to Option 2.

Click Settings.

Step 2: Check People permissions

In the left menu, go to Users and click People.

For both your Facebook Page and Instagram account:

  • Click the three dots on the right-hand side

  • Select Edit Business Portfolio Permissions

  • Turn on Full control

  • Make sure all permissions are switched on

  • Click Save

Both accounts need full control. Partial access will stop automations from working.

Step 3: Check Page permissions

In the left menu, go to Accounts and click Pages.

  • Select your page

  • Click View Details

  • Click Manage next to your user

  • Turn on all permissions

  • Make sure you have Full control switched on

This must include access to business tools and messaging.

Step 4: Reconnect Facebook in FEA Create 🚀

Go back to FEA Create.

  • Go to Settings

  • Click Integrations

  • Find the Facebook integration

  • Click the three dots

  • Click Disconnect

  • Reconnect it again

As you reconnect:

  • Accept all permissions

  • Make sure everything is switched on

This ensures Meta and FEA Create are fully synced.

Option 2: Check permissions via your Personal Facebook profile

Step 1: Open your Facebook settings

Go to facebook.com and log into your Personal Facebook profile.

  • Click your Personal Profile icon in the top right

  • Go to Settings & Privacy, then Settings

Step 2: Open Business Integrations

  • Search Business Integrations

  • Click into Business Integrations

  • Look for LeadConnector

Step 3: Remove the integration

  • Click Remove next to LeadConnector

This removes any old, expired, or partially connected permissions.

Step 4: Confirm removal

Follow the prompts to fully remove the integration.

Step 5: Reconnect Facebook in FEA Create 🚀

Go back to FEA Create.

  • Go to Settings

  • Click Integrations

  • Find the Facebook integration

  • Click the three dots

  • Click Disconnect

  • Reconnect it again

As you reconnect:

  • Accept all permissions

  • Make sure everything is switched on

This ensures Meta and FEA Create are fully synced again.

Final check

Once everything is reconnected, your DM automations should start working again.

If they are still not sending, go back through each step. Check that nothing is set to partial access.

This is a Meta restriction. Without full permissions, automations will not run.
