How Can I Use Private Groups?

Making Your Community Groups Private in FEA Create

Private groups are only accessible to invited members and won't be visible in the group switcher unless access is granted. This feature is useful for creating exclusive, invite-only communities.

Step 1: Access Group Settings

In FEA Create, go to Create Your Offer, then Communities, then Groups. Find the group you want to make private and click Login to open it as an admin.

Step 2: Adjust Group Type

Go to the Settings tab, then Details. Under Group Type, choose Private Group. Then under Additional Settings:

  • Accessible from switcher. Tick this if you want non-members to see your private group in the group switcher, without being able to get in. Untick it to keep the group completely hidden.

  • Allow members to invite new members. Untick this if you only want admins to be able to invite people.

Click Save changes.

Step 3: Set Visibility Preferences

If you want the private group to be visible to non-members but not accessible, ensure the "Accessible from Switcher" option is turned on. If you want the group to remain entirely hidden from non-members, turn off this option.

Step 4: Confirm the Changes

After making your selections, confirm the changes by clicking the "Save" button. FEA Create will ask you to confirm the change in the group type; click "Confirm."

Step 5: Add Members to Your Private Group

The easiest way to fill your private group is to add people automatically. Set up a workflow that gives someone access to the group as soon as they buy your offer, sign up or are tagged, so you never have to add anyone by hand. [Find out how here]

Want to add someone yourself? Head to the Members tab in your group and click Invite Member. Enter their name and email address, choose whether to make them an admin, then click Invite.

Step 6: Managing Your Private Group

Once your invitees accept the invitations, you will see them listed in the admin area of the group. They'll have access to the group's discussions and content.

Whether you want to provide specialized content or limit access to a select audience, the ability to set your group as private and invite members offers you the flexibility to tailor your community to your needs.

Only the members you invite can see your private group's content.

Enjoy using private community groups in FEA Create to create exclusive and engaging online communities!
